In a relatively open GOP field, Mitt Romney is the frontrunner from an organizational and fundraising standpoint.
To win over Republican primary voters, Romney will need to consistently demonstrate himself to be a fiscal conservative, tap dance around Romneycare, while avoiding any hint of flip-flopping under media scrutiny.
At this point, the GOP electorate remains wary on all these points. Unless Romney can make strong showings in the New Hampshire, Nevada and Florida nominating contests to distance himself from the rest of the field, he will have a long slog to Tampa.
