The hotly contested Wisconsin Supreme Court race should not be seen as a rebuke of Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s leadership. Whether the Badger State electorate realizes it or not, Gov. Walker’s passage of collective bargaining legislation was in his constituents’ best long-term interests.
Rather, the closeness of this judicial race indicates that the Republican Party of Wisconsin, the Republican National Committee and conservative interests across the country are not yet prepared to face the Democrats in 2012 from an organizing and messaging standpoint.
If these right-leaning entities were better prepared for this particular election, Justice David Prosser would have been able to win reelection with relative ease.
